Fargo to Minot

Does anyone know if Michelin is a French company? How about Bilstein being German company? I would really like to know. I won't be buing French or German anytime soon, like maybe till they come over here and bail us out of a World War & spill lots of blood doing it, or until they totally defeat us in war & decimate our country and then rebuild it and later bring down a Berlin wall splitting our country... ... ... ... ..... And to think all they had to do was NOTHING, just SHUT UP AND DO NOTHING... ... ... ... . This really makes me mad.....

i don't know if the entire engine is german, but the bosch pump on it is, and any bosch relays on it, or if it rolls on michelin tires, bfgoodrich tires or uniroyal... better change the tires... you don't want to be supporting the french or germans... .

I think I will have to give up the French Perfume for the wife and sourcroot on the hotdogs:D ;) I'm not giving up my truck. Don't drink, so french whine is not a problem here.

I'm sorry, but the boycott of french or german products just sounds silly to me.

If the rest of the world boycotts american products and you loose your job, then maybe you'll understand.

Of course that is just my opinion, and everybody else is entitled to theirs. (got to love this country)

People who are descended from Germanic tribes (such as myself) are the largest single group in this country. To propose punishing an entire country of people for the statements of their government officials is just plain idiotic. Half of the people in this country are opposed to the war, does that mean we sould boycott ourselves to? Just dumb. I know it's convenient to direct anger in a very general way towards an entire country of people whom you have never met, but it's not the answer.

This link is for a list of French companies to boycott. Boycotting probably won't put anyone out of business, but sends a message that we are mad about what they did. Not just what they said, but their selling prohibited things to Saddam.

I just bought 8 new BF Goodrich tires a few months ago. Guess I contributed to them. I hate it when good old American companies get bought up by these foreigners anyway. Havey Firestone is still rolling in his grave!

I'm reading this thread nervously as a Canadian, I hope you folks south of the border realize there is strong support for the U. S. up here even though our gov't doesn't always indicate such. That's my view anyway.

Rspinks,

Those of us in the oil & gas industry who visit Canada regularly know full well that the Western Canadian provinces are nothing like Quebec. I wish you'd come on over and join the U. S. ! ;) :D

I understand that. I have several friends and relatives up there and I know the government is not very representative of what the people want, especially when it comes to guns and rights. Hopefully it will improve as people realize the problem.

I see a gross lack of support by german, french and canadian governments and some of its citizens. I'M FURIOUS WITH THEM!! I may not move the world, but I will do what I can to boycott their products. God help them in the future when they need to be saved by invading foreign forces, cause U. S. A. should watch them burn. jmo. Paul

I ain't selling my truck just because the germans own the company that built it( hell I think they own Freightliner too, and I ain't selling that one either). And I will own a Porsche 911 someday before I die. That said, it would have been nice if they(the Germans and the French) hadn't been so strident in their opposition to what we're doing.

It is about money and oil

For those who say it is not about oil. They are wrong. It is about oil. Iraqi Oil is going to france and Iraq is getting arms from france to the tune of several billions of dollars. germany, russia and china are also trading with Iraq for money and oil. It is no wonder they oppose the war. They stand to loose big bucks.

At least the french and probably the german gov'ts have forgotten the what honor once was. They seem to have forgotten when British and American boys sacrificed their lives to free the French and German people from Nazi oppression.

btw: my ancestors were from france, germany, Wales, England, Scotland and Ireland. I am not against the peoples of those and other lands, just the protesters and the leaders who succumb to greed for their own gains and political future.

I am not mad, but much more disappointed at them and at the millions of our tax dollars going to foreign aid of these countries and financial support for the United Nations from all U. S. presidents AND congress for 50+ years. However this support doesn't give the U. S. free license to rule the UN.

I am frustrated that it had to come to war, because of the lack of backbone by those leaders of the opposing countries, because they let $$$ get in the way.

I served in Vietnam and saw the human destruction and inhumanities up close and personal. I was a corpsman with the Marines and very glad they took very good care of me:D. Let me also state I am vehemently opposed to war. BUT that said, war is and has to be an option albeit a last resort IMHO. I am not a hawk nor a dove. I believe in diplomacy, but when the other side is not willing to make concessions stronger diplomacy is needed. Only when all efforts have been exhausted then tough decisions must be made.

I stated on another thread I am very impressed with Tony Blair. In the face of overwhelming popular and political opposition he made the tough decision to go to war.

I also support the Commander-in-Chief, President George W. Bush. He had very tough decisions to make and knew young innocent soldiers would loose their life as a direct result of his decision. However, I do not agree with everything he and other leaders do, but I am thankful I live in a country were I can have a differing opinion. George W. Bush made those tough decisions a prior president wouldn't make. He was too busy lying about not having sex!

Finally, (I realize this is a generalization and some exceptions are needed) But, I am tired of the U. S. being expected to feed the world, expected protect the world and expectedfinance the world with my tax dollars. I think we can decide if we want to, but not to be expected to. Social Security is in a mess and we are saving others. Sometimes I just don't get it?

end of my soap box:D
