Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Friction Modifier

When putting some f. m. in the rear for chatter/rumble on turns, is there a certain amount that seems to work? I'd rather not dump an entire bottle if I don't need it as I don't want it getting too loose back there.

Seems to depend on the type of fluid you use. Start with half a bottle and go from there.

Remember to do a number of slow figure 8's to work the fluid into the limited slip.

Get a couple for good measure.

While you are at the dealer go ahead and get two bottles. It does depend on the replacement oil you use. The heavier/thicker the oil the harder it is to get into the clutch packs.



After a trip to dealer and two bottles of modifier still not stopping it, I rechanged the oil. Went with off the shelf Valvoline Synthetic and two bottles of modifier. Quiet as it can be. Just make a couple of figure 8's ever 5-10,000 miles and keeps everything lubed like it should.



Dealer said old modifier was made from Whale Oil and was a green color. Stuff was slicker than snot and would stick to anything, less than half a bottle would fix anything. Then the EPA decided they couldn't use Whale Oil anymore. The new stuff, what us and the dealer are forced to use is not even half as good. He said they reccommend using two bottles to start with and adding some if needed.



Didn't mean to get long winded just turned out that way.

When I changed the LSD diff oil, I used Royal Purple 85W-140 (Maybe 80W-140) plus a bottle of MoPar modifier. No chatter at all.

I have an open Dana 80, is there any advantage to using friction modifier in it or the rest of the running gear? From the sound of it, it would be a super lube for most gears.
