Here is a quick synopsis of what happened. He and family rented a car and drove home and the truck is still in Douglas, Wyoming. I am trying to help him get his truck and 5er trailer home, but it is a long way from Chicago! Anyone out there or know any shops that can help?

The truck is a 1995 6. 5L turbo diesel. FYI, It has been converted to run on vegetable oil for about a year now.

Before I left I had both heads replaced due to cooling system pressurization, both were cracked. No coolant was found in the oil. I also had the injectors replaced and a high volume water pump and dual thermostat cooling system. Also added a PMD (pump mounted driver) cooling block.

At our first stop in Iowa the truck did not start. The PMD went bad. It was replaced and worked fine.

As we proceeded West the truck was losing power and producing white smoke, we barley made it to the campground in Estes Park, CO. After having the injection pump replaced, the truck had power, no smoke, and ran fine.

Proceeding North, the truck was running well, but hot, about 220 degrees when climbing hills. Air temp was about 97 degrees. Near Douglas I was shifting from 4th to 5th gear when something came apart, and the engine stopped.

A minute later, the coolant overflowed and was bubbling in the reserve tank. That night I opened the cap and it was still under pressure. I think it just overheated.

It will start and run but something in the bottom is making a hell of a racket.

Thanks guys,

Rhino
