A friend of mine emailed me and has a question about a 4 cylinder Cummins he found. I'd like to think of him as a future TDR member and I can't think of any way to better show him the worth of that $35 fee than to ask a question for him here and let him read the response. ... so don't disappoint me guys! Here's his question:

... my brother-in-law and I have acquired a Cummins powered generator that was thrown in a dumpster. The 4 cyl. Cummins is seized. The injector pump, turbo, and injectors are missing, so we have our work cut out for us. The engine was made in 1991 so we are encouraged that parts shouldn't be too hard to find. If you go to the meet would you ask if anyone knows where we could locate a manual for rebuilding the engine.

Thanks,

Matt

Call up Cummins and tell them what you have, they will have the manual you need. You can bore that block out, if it hasn't been already, providing that nothing real serious came apart in there, you should be able to rebuild it.

The CPL number on the Data tag from Cummins should provide you with which manual you need to rebuild this.

But I would say you'll need to make somewhat of a hybrid out of it, to meet your demands in a vehicle.

I'm not sure they intend to put it in a vehicle, the more immediate goal would be to rebuild. With what's missing and the price being what it is, there would be minimal expense doing whatever they like with it. It could go in a boat, it could continue life as a generator or pump. The world is your oyster.
