so help me decide I have 17" wheels now. time for tires. what would be the gain or the pro for going with a 18" tires. I know the wheels I would get. just wondering on tire. i will be going for a 37" tire. I know the price is alot more. is it more choices, better rating? would there be a plus for doing this.

I don't think you can achieve any gains by converting from 17" light truck tires to 18" wheels other than "the look" if it appeals to you unless there is now an 18" light truck tire available. I'm not aware of one but may have missed something. If you have to fit 18" wheels with low profile LRD tires you will lose capability.

the looks dont really matter I have been eye balling new tires for this coming spring and it seems most 18" tires in the size I want have a higher load rating compared to 17" and they offer more E rated ones. no hurry just doing some homework on the next set. but they also offer a higher price so just trying to find pro's and con's on this

A "higher load rating" on LRD tires is not a good thing on a truck built to haul and tow. If you can find LRE or greater tires in 18" sizes that should be an acceptable substitute for your OEM tires/wheels.

I'd also want to make sure the new aftermarket 18" wheels were forged, not cast, if you haul or tow.
