I seem to have differential oil leaking out the front axle vent tube .
The only time it happens is when I visit my parents. They live around half way up a mountain on the way to the local ski hill. It did it this weekend and last weekend when I went up ,but during the week it didn't do it at all.
Is this normal (because of the change of elevation) ?

I also experienced the same after a re-gear job and fresh fluid fill. It also occurred on an elevation change. I posted this back several years ago and Bill Fleming along with a few others stated that it was normal and that it would stop. They were correct, it never occurred more than twice. I don't know if it was due to an over-fill situation (hard to do) or and air pocket just puking off. It was weird but, it never did it again... it was quite puzzling:confused:

My experience with two trucks, including mine, was that if you fill to the bottom of the plug it will be much more likely to puke oil (on a longer drive) then if you leave the level a 1/2 inch or so below the plug as is recommended.
