I have a problem with my transfer case that prevents me from towing much of a load in 2-hi, it keeps wanting to jump into neutral, but it is fine in 4-hi, so in the meantime (until I have the time to pull out the transfer case) I have been taking out the front driveshaft when I need to tow anything, but I just realized that I should be able to just take off some vacuum lines to the front axle right? I assume this would not hurt anything, all that would be happening is the front ring and pinion would be turning correct? If so could someone tell me what lines I could unhook, I would greatly appreciate it, it would sure save me a lot of hassel.

I don't think you will find any vacuum lines involved with what you are wanting to do. Check out www.dynatrac.com and consider their front hub/spindle conversion. Then you will truly disengage your front axle. Of course, you will have to fix that transfer case sooner or later or more problems will start to develop. JH

thanks, I just need to do this temporarly to get by, I know there is something I should be able to unhook on the axle that would be alot easier than removing the driveshaft, I 'm just not sure what.

I know somebody on here knows.

On the long side of your front axle housing you will see the axle disconnect. You should be able to disconnect the lines from there to disable your axle. I think i would plug the lines so as to keep junk out of them while they are unplugged. Randy
 
front axle

I went out and looked and I see where I can unhook two little rubber boots that hook on the vacuum lines attached to the frame right above the front axle.
