I may install a plow on my truck and want to set it up right so have a few questions.

I would like to know what the GAWR is on a 3rd gen 3500 SRW with snow plow pkg?

Mine is a 2500 non snow plow pkg but I am thinking I would just swap in the springs from a 3500 with snow plow pkg. to help carry the weight.

The plows I am looking at range in weight of 571 to 773 lbs and in particular i like the 773 plow for its height and weight to better scrape.

I have 2 friends with plows. . with the lift kit any reasonable plow weights at least 1100 lbs and most are in the 1500 lb range... I think your weight is way off...

The plow is very hard on the front end... and I'm sure some of the guys with plows will chime in here... . I would put a plow on one of my trucks for my use only... no one has commented here that he's made money with one... its just too much wear and tear...

Just my thoughts. .

My use would be for one lot that is approx 50'x150' and our own drive way which about a 40'x60' foot lot.

I started to wonder about the plow weights when I found out Western does not recommend nor would install their 7. 5ft ProPlus which weighs 789 lb.

Instead they recommended their 7. 5ft pro model that weighs 682 lb.

Those weights don't include the frame mounts which can add another 75 lbs.

Westerns issue was with me overloading the front GAWR.

If you click on the "specifications" in those links you can see the listed plow weights.

Your friends would have to be running a 10' 33" tall Heavy weight plow designed for 14,000 to 27,000 medium duty GVW trucks.

the 2500 and 3500 have the same GAWR's. The increase in GVWR is all in the rearend and only because the 3500 has the secondary leaf pack.

the snowplow springs are stiffer but don't increase weight rating of the frontend.
