2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Front axle removal

I have a 2001 2500 with the central axle disconnect. If replacing U-joints, can I just pull that right side out and then put it back, or do I need to somehow disassemble the central axle disconnect mechanism to align the shaft as it goes back in?



The factory manual says nothing about this, at least that I can find.

The axle should pull out, and slide in normaly.

Thank you, I appreciate it. The Quad4x4 kit for universal joints includes a gasket for the central axle disconnect unit. I was concerned that they were implying that you had to disassemble the unit as part of the job.

Don't forget to be gentle sliding the axles past the seals so that they don't get mangled.
