When installing driver side and passenger side do I have to push them in flush with the tube opening or all the way in to the tube up to the lip inside?
A quick look at a 96 service manual looks like they go pretty deep. A couple of special tools are shown to get axle seal in place. The 60 uses different special tools than the 44.
Hopefully someone that has done them will join in.
I had to do the drivers side on my 1996 but I do not remember how far in the seal was. I seem to remember it was deeper than just the end of the axle tube.
