2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Front Axle Swap Questions

I know there are some differences between the 1998 and newer front axle assemblies and the 1997 and older. I am not certain exactly what they are (other than the 1998 and newer have easy to remove rotors), but I am wondering if anyone has swapped or can provide informaiton swapping on a newer axle into an older truck. Or does anyone know the specific difference that might provide a challenge during the swap?

One thing I'm aware of is the sway bar attachment is different. I've compared my '96 to a friend's '01. Seems like my links are above the sway bar and pointing up and her's are below the bar and pointing down. Probably not too big a deal to work around during a swap. Other than that I remember being surprised at how similar they were set up. That was just at a glance, no close studying.
