Hello

I'm installing a 4" lift kit by Skyjacker. I'm not inpressed with the kit, I had to go and get longer u-bolts for the rear. The instruction right on the top said "check the length of your u-bolts because they may be too short". YA THINK? The brake line that Skyjacker sold me is nothing like the stock one. I know Skyjacker knows this because the first thing on the instruction paper says "the holes are the same, so make it work". The brake line kit is a pile of crap. What did you guys use for a longer front brake line?

Thanks

Roy

I went to the NAPA store and looked in the brake parts book at the stock hose. It describes fittings and length. I then looked through the book until I found an identical picture with the same fittings and the length was ~8" longer IIRC ... Of course it wasn't in stock and I needed it pronto, so I rotated the metal bracket on the crossmember by 90 degrees (took a little bending of the metal line). My flex brake line now exits down instead of toward the passenger side. I know how this sounds, but it really isn't as hokey as it sounds. I have plenty of rubber line for full flex. I did Hell's Revenge Slickrock 4x4 trail here in Moab (yes I took some bypasses  ) with some great guys from Ramcharger Central and had no problems with brake line length.

I will probably go ahead and order the longer hose at some point, but for now the stocker is working with my 4" skyjacker setup. I have the setup that is 4" front and 2" rear blocks on the 6" lift springs in the back that chuck the factory blocks. Ride is MUCH better.

Does the kit have the small bushing ID problem fixed yet or do you still have to toss the metal bushing liner?

BTW I recommend locktight on the bolts that attach the springs to the frame. I unscrewed the front bolt out of the rear spring and almost lost it on a trail. The nut came off and the bolt came 1/2 way out with a thunk.

Good luck with the rest of the install! My install wasn't quite as straightforward as I thought it would be either.

Try looking at your rear brake line. I think it will work on the front, and its quite a bit longer. If you get one for an 87 Dodge pickup, it doesn't have all the clips on it for the ABS sensor wiring. I want to say it was about $13 last time I bought one.
