I just put a new set of Performance Friction brand carbon metallic front pads on($36@Autozone) to replace a set of carbo/metallics(another brand) plus new rotors that had about 45k on them. The rotors looked almost new(I didn't mike them). I believe the pads would have lasted longer if I had kept the rear brakes adjusted up better and if I had pulled the calipers, cleaned and relubed the anchor rails after about 25k.
The new PF pads really stop good so far and I was really impressed with how little wear that the rotors exhibit after
wearing out one set of carbon metallic pads. Appears to be much easier on rotors than cerama/metallics.
I also dropped my glovebox door so that I could unhook the plug behind it to the ABS control. My truck's daily working weight is
about 9k and always loaded, so I am hoping to get stronger rear braking without ABS. No warning lights have come on after unhooking the plug. So far so good. Truck stops better than ever, either because of, or inspite of, the above.
My $00. 02.
