I just rotated my tires, and i noticed that with the tires off the truck, and the parking brake released, (shouldnt make a difference), the front wheels dont spin freely. They are dragging and they squeal at low speeds, is this right. They shouldnt be dragging. The pads look good all the way around. Ive got 30000 miles on it. Anyone have any ideas. Thanks

There should be some drag..

Just how much drag are you talking about? All disk

brakes do to a certain extent. If you have to

strain to rotate the tire/wheel assembly, then

you have a stuck caliper/piston. Did you notice

the drag with the wheel/tire removed, while

rotaing the disk alone by hand? If so the drag

will seem high. As long as you do not have a bad

pull when you let go of the steering wheel on a

level road (no drainage slope/crown) and the disk

brake pads are wearing evenly, then they should be

fine.

The squeaking/squealing could be caused by glazed

pads. If you are up to the task, remove the front

disk caliper and lightly sand the pads to break

the glaze. I'm not sure if you need to sand the

disk itself (someone else have any input on this?)
