Looking for a replacement front bumper, something that does not look like it came out of a "MAD MAX" movie. Fusion makes a nice one, but are there others that fit the truck's lines better? I don't care for the way most f the after market ones don't cover or hide the wheel liners. I like the stock look just hate the rust coming through and the cheap plastic filler between the lights and grill and the top of the bumper.

Here is a pic of mine on my 05, custom made by Twinkle Welding Gallery Page There are some other pics of my truck in their photo gallery. It does cover the inner fender plastic like you mentioned, I agree they look funny when not covered up, some just trim the liner to look better.

Thanks I like the look just I don't need the push bar or brush guards... . If you don't mind me asking how much did it set you back?

I'm interested in this thread also. Would like to upgrade mine, was even willing to spend some $$, but after reading on here I developed another concern- the front ball joint design on these trucks has the lower ball joint bearing all the weight, not shared with the upper. In addition to preferring a "mild" style on the bumper, I also have concerns about adding the better part of a couple hundred pounds weight at the farthest forward point on the truck.

Too much weight

I was told by replacing the stock bumper w/ the R. A. one there would be a considerable displacement of weight that would help balance out the difference in gain. Of course, that was just a selling factor. I was able to remove the stock bumper by myself in a matter of minutes and with one arm could lift it. It took two of us to mount the Road Armor one as it is a BEAST. I drove it for a week and realized immediately by how the truck handled IT WAS NOT GOOD for the front end components as you have indicated. (I have since had all uppers and lowers changed 18months ago).

I bought the bumpers (I do have the Road Armor rear on) with the intent of installing a 12K winch which would have added YET ANOTHER 100+ pounds for a total of nearly 300 beyond the fulcrum. Anyone thinking that is beneficial to the longevity of the entire front end is wrong. IMO. .

The rear bumper will hold a 9,000 pound winch that at some point I may install.

FPN. I have seen a Chevy Suburban 1500 running around my town with a R. A. front bumper w/bull bars and a which nose diving down. .

What in the world is the guy thinking ??

Good to know all of this. so is there any way to mount a winch in the front without bogging down and wearing out the ball joints? I'm looking for a ranch hand style wrap around dually rear bumper that i can mount a 12k hydraulic winch behind. anybody have any suggestions.

I like the Herd bumper but not the push bars or brush bars. ... But were getting closer less MAD MAX more like a nice truck look. Any others out there?

i would say roughly about 300lbs give or take... without the winch. . It is very stout and well built. I also have the warn fog lights for it too that come with it (yes they do work). If your interested, shoot me a pm and we can discuss further.

the added weight is exactly why I quit putting them on my trucks in the 2nd gen years, I think my steering repairs declined by 50% by quitting the bumpers

the only bumper I might consider buying is the fab four bumper they make that is light weight like 130 lbs, but then again you get that mad max thing going

I'd just like a stock looking bumper without all of the plastic

The aluminum bumper I was talking about is made by Aluminess and with brush guards weighs about 90 lbs zccording to the site. Nice but also pricey.
