Does anybody know the differences between the '88+ front bumper and the '87- one? I could pick up a nice Warn winch bumper that came off an '84 dually, but it seems they aren't a direct interchange.

So, what's the scoop?

I cant forsee an issue.

The project W350 is a 1980 frame. I have a 1993 bumper on it. Use the 88+ brackets and you should be good to go.

In my head, I dont see a change in frame width, so only change could be hole pattern could be an issue. As long as you use the correct brackets, I dont forsee an issue.

At very worst, you have to drill a few holes. So worth it for a good bumper.

Rock on. I'll pick it up and go from there. It'll be nice to have my winch off the garage floor.

Thanks for the help, guys.

I put a 93 frt bumper ( with 93 brkts ) on my 84 crew cab and although it fit it added 2" to the length of my already long truck. I couldn't get it to fit in close to the grill like it did on the 93 I took it from. Not a big deal but I couldn't see why it left such a large gap. Shadrach

Now that is odd! How does that work. I didn't think the grill area was any different proportionally than a newer one.

Wonder if it was hole positioning in the frame? Must be closer to the front of the frame.

The grille area and core support are bowed outward on the 91-93 trucks to accomodate the intercooler. Notice the triangular profile of the sheetmetal above the intercooler/AC condensor. The frames remained unchanged, so longer bumper mounts are used.

Indeed. So, the new bumper's mounts have the triangular pattern of the rearmost three bolts on my stock bumper, but the grill is, indeed, too far forward for me to bolt it up.

I am going to have to either whip up some longer mounts, or drill some holes, etc. I need to get out there again to figure out my course of action.

eh, you don't wanna fool w/ all that, just send it my way ;) j/k

i've been looking for a good warn winch bumper for some time now, they d/c'd them and i can't seem to find anyone w/ one sitting their stock
