Changing out to Synthetics for all fluids. DC Shop manuel says that front differintial should be 75w140. I only drive in 4x4 when its really snowy or icy which works out to maybe 20 times a year. Never been "offroading" hard and dont plan on it. Occasionally pull stumps, etc in 4low but maybe 2-5 times a year.

Question is would I be safe to go with a 75w90 fluid for the front?

I'm switching to Amsoil.

Also rear is spec as 80w90 for standard use or 75w140 for heavy duty towing/hauling. Rarely do either very heavy. Will 75w90 work for the rear too? Think that maybe get a slight mileage increase with the "thinner" fluids.

ANy thought, good or bad will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

FWIW, I use Amsoil Series 2000 75W-90 in everything but the transmission and power steering system. Everything runs cool even in summer heat. I recommend it highly.

Thats what I ran in my 2000 and all the ones before Amsoil S2000 75w90 and had no problems. The one I have now have not changed it out.
