Just wondering if anyone else has seen the same thing as I have, and if its something to concern myself with, and get my dealer to address when I bring the pickup in for its first service.

The weatherstripping, in one location, is taking a bit of a hard rubbing while opening and closing the front doors of the pickup. Location I'm talking about is where the sloping part of the door meets the vertical, just in front of where the mirrors are attached to the doors. The weatherstripping is attached to the windshield part of the frame, and when the door is opening or closing, a part of it drags across the rubber with some force. I've noticed some wear already, and this truck is only 2 months old.

I only noticed this problem a couple of weeks after I purchased the truck, and thought I would keep the weatherstripping really slippery by rubbing armour-all on it. Seems to do the trick, but its only a patch-type resolution, I think. Also, when the rubber is flexible (ie: during warmer months), it can prolly withstand the movement, more than when its cold, like during wintery months (ie: like we're already experiencing here now).

I've attached a small picture to give a better idea of what I'm trying to describe.

Thanks for any info people can pass on to me.

It appears that they changed the height of the weatherstrip sometime during the 03 model year. If you look in the service manual, there is a detailed procedure to adjust the door if you wanted to. If you wait a little while, I suspect they might revise the weatherstrip again to keep it from rubbing so hard. I assume the change was to keep the water from dripping on you when the door is opened.

I cannot believe they designed this the way they did.

My truck has 2800 miles on it and the corners of the doors are already eating through the weatherstrip.

I coated the seals with 100% silicone grease where it rubs yesterday. I'm sure it'll help because before the grease the door was practically grabbing the weatherstrip and trying to tear it every time I opened it.

That is a botched up design that we will be hearing a lot about in the future.

I have the same problem and the truck is just 2 weeks old with 600 miles on the clock. I cant tell if this will also occur on the pass side as it has only been opened and closed a few times. I hope they can come up with a good fix as i an

m sure this is/will be happening to alot of our trucks.

There is a TSB on this. Tomey Gun posted it on his website. Check http://www.newdodgeorderform.com/My...iles/Page3.html TSB 23-008-04. Went to dealer and they ordered the new part number. I will look up the part number when I get home and post it. The new ones are now installed. Same physical size, but the rubber seems to be a different compound - more rubbery and flexible. Now there is a rubber "squeek" sometimes when opening and shutting. Time will tell. But, DC is dealing with it.

Same here. The local dealer said to get it documented but not fixed at this point, since they are coming out with a new part to replace this, soon.

My door seal has done the same thing. This is my first time on this website and wow! Thanks for all the good information. I got the TSB and within 24 hours had the dealer in Bremerton, WA replace it.

Sorry it took me so long to get part numbers. I am on call this week and I have not been home much. Pulled a 24 hour straight stretch Wed AM to Thu AM.

Anyway, new part number is 55276941AA. Description is "Installed both body seals as per TSB"
