Front drive axle

This weekend a friend came over and we killed the dowel pins. Both trucks are 4X4 and while working on his 98- 24 valve auto, we noticed the breather tube for his front axle is pushing oil out. No, not bad, but enough to run down the tube onto the frame and drips from there. The top of the tube is located behind the turbo and close to the firewall. My 94 truck doesn't do this and we are wondering if anybody else has noticed this? His truck doesn't do anything unsual, daily driver.
