I just noticed the sticker under my hood for lubricating the front drive shaft at every oil change. I slid under there and can't find any grease fitting.

Actually, I've looked at the picture under the hood several times and slid under there and can't find it. I have felt over all the u-joints on the shaft, both ends and on the front axles and still no fittings.

Where is it?

Do a search in the 3rd generation section, there are a ton of posts on this, same driveshaft, you will find photos, it's there.

Unfortunately just becasue you have an underhood sticker, does NOT mean that you actually have the needle grease fitting in the cardan joint of the front driveshaft. My 2005 has the sticker and NO grease button. Many of the front driveshafts were built with "lifetime", non-greasable u-joints. Lifetime, of course, means life of the u-joint, not life of the driveshaft or truck. Like the last poster said, there already many threads that describe the location of and how to grease the cardan joint, IF yours is greasable.

Here is a good link with photos--

and the mother of ALL front driveshaft greasing threads--:-lafOo.

Thanks, seafish.

I didn't know if there was a change in the trucks or not. I did see that little "button" fitting under there yesterday and thought to myself, "That can't be it". I was looking for a zerk type.

I have some needles but guess I will bo by NAPA tomorrow and see what they have in stock

Again, thanks for the help. I saw it, but didn't know what I was looking at. Thanks to you, now I know.

You want the fat pointed one, it is about 1/8" wide shaft, or a tad larger, the end has a 45 degree point, the best ones have a black tip, best to mark the drive shaft with a dot of white paint to locate it next time, just pump grease , when you see some appear to the rear of the joint your done.

Thanks RonD.

I'm assuming the black tip is Rubber or something? I'm going to run by NAPA this morning and see what they have.

I appreciate this guys. Looking in the 3rd Gen, I guess I'm in good company with this.

That's a good idea on marking the spot asl well.
