Front driveline Torx How the heck?

Cant seem to find a combination of tool to get in propper line to remove the Torx bolts on the front drive line. Scaird I am going to round them out. What is the secret ? Special tool $$ ?? I am getting ready for a road trip to the lower 48 and wanted to have the ability to remove the shaft should it go wobbly on the Alcan. Dont like them double cardon joints! Has any one removed their front shaft for long road trips where you will not be needing 4 wd ?

IIRC it is a 40 torx bit(maybe 45). Your friendly snap-on dealer can fix you right up... ..... the torx is about 6" long before it goes into socket/holder

You can take it off completely, won't hurt a thing. They make a long torx that will get in there. You may also be able to take the other end loose and swing the driveline to the side to gain room.

If I were to make a long summer road trip I would take it off and throw it in the bed with a few tools so I could put it on in a pinch if need be.

I had to clock the driveshaft for each bolt. I replaced them with standard head bolts.
