well I need to replace the front yoke at the front diff/front shaft. is this called the slip yoke? it has a big nut holding it on and assuming a crush sleeve behind it. my u-joint was slowly going out wearing a grove in the formed tab on the yoke that holds the u-joint cup. . hope this makes sense. any good places or prices or if anyone has a part number.

If the strap is worn, just replace the strap. There is no crush sleeve inside these diffs. A new yoke (this one isn't a slip yoke) is probably pretty expensive, I'd fix it sooner rather than later. BTW, the torque spec on my Dana 80 rear is 450 ft-lbs, not sure what it is on the 60 but you might want to get a FSM before you dig in.

On the front D60 axle if you have not replaced the ring & pinion there is a crush sleeve that will need to be replaced if you take the yoke off, I had to replace my R&P last year so that is how I know this. If the yoke saddle is warn then you'll need to replace it. If the strap is warn then you can get a replacement strap kit. A new yoke (with straps) will run from the mid $60 on up to $200+.

Here is a link to the D60 yoke page at Randy's Ring & Pinion.

since you need to replace the yoke, upgrade it to the u-bolt style instead of the strap style. The u-bolt setup is stronger and easier to find replacement parts for.

well its finally time to do this yoke on the front. is it best to pull it and measure the distance on the u-joint cap to cap and diam of the cap to get the right size yoke. everyone that I have called they said dodge has to many variations of the front yoke. ? I would think all stock spicer yokes on 2000-02 3/4 or 1 ton would be same.

done

well all and all I got a spicer replacement yoke for 72. 00 at the dealership came with new nut and strap kit. so i was shocked that is was cheaper with them. all is good. except it wasnt painted. so I had to give it the deluxe can of rustoleum treatment.
