Gonna do a swap between the '91 and the '93. The '91 was recently rebuilt. The '93 is really loose. Issue is that the u-joint at the front axle pinion is smaller on the '91 than it is on the '93. Who-da-thunk-it:-laf. Anyhoo, after talkin' with Joe at Drivetrain Industries, in Denver, I decided to take both driveshafts down for comparison. If the four bolt flanges, double cardan joints, tubes and slip splines are the same, he would swap out the small u-joint (and splined lower shaft) for the larger unit and still use the '91 driveshaft for a cool savings compared to a complete rebuild (quoted @ $300. 00). Hey! "Parts is Parts", right? Man, I'll get this scroungin' down (to a science), yet:-laf:D. GregH

Took both front driveshafts to Drive Train Industries, today. Joe looked at both and determined that the rebuilt ('91) Double Cardan had some slop:eek: and the rest was unusable for a replacement. He then checked the '93 drive shaft and said that the pinion u-joint needed to be replaced as well as the slip joint. The u-joint is no longer made but there is another method of repair using a different yoke and a special universal joint. He said the double cardan joint on the '93 shaft was still tight (original). The replacement u-joint is not greaseable:eek:? The slip joint is in the same situation. We shall see how this comes together. I'll pick it up next week. GregH

Going by memory the 89-92 front yoke is a 7260 similar in size to a 1310. In 93 it was made bigger to a 7290 which is close to a 1330.

I had a custom shaft made; a 1350 double cardon with 1410 front yoke. :D

Drive Train Industries is gettin ready to move. Joe did not mention any options othere than a different yoke and u-joint that replaced the original unit. At least this new slip joint is greaseable. GregH

Repaired Driveshaft installed

Almost fergot:eek:! Heres a couple of pics. of the repaired end. Under that fancy shiney paint job, theres a new slip joint and U-joint. GregH
