I finally installed the D25s with Bilstein 6681s this weekend. Everything feels fine except for the fact that my steering wheel is turned to the left when the wheels are straight and there may be some slight drifting to the left (might just be the roads I'm driving on). My question is should I get a professional allignment or just center the steering wheel myself? I'm hesitant to get an allignment around here because El Paso is kind of a shady place... those of you who have lived here know what I'm talking about.

Well, after a long drive this morning, I decided to get my front end professionally aligned. Does anyone know of a reputable place in El Paso, TX?

I just put my D25's on this weekend too...

It's strange not to be going downhill anymore. I just centered the wheel. Steers fine, except...

I put on a rebuilt steering gear last week, but I'm not happy with it. It has almost as much play as the old one, so it's getting replaced again.

When you centered the wheel, did you mess with both the upper and lower steering knuckles, or was it just one or the other?

-Tim

Because the 4x4 uses a Panhard rod to locate the front axle laterally, when the truck is lifted, the axle is pulled to one side, but the steering box and idler arm are not. That's why the steering wheel isn't centered. The correct solution is a longer Panhard rod.
