I have this noise coming from the front when I turn the wheel, I know this is a common problem, but my dilema is I can't figure out what is making it. It sounds like a click, metal snap, clang, snap, hollow metal can sound. (If that makes any sense). I checked and tightened my Lukes, and all tie rod ends. I even went under as my Dad turned the wheel, it seems to be coming from the steering gear box, but it's new, and that's partly the reason for replacing the old one, to eliminate the possibility of the box making the noise. It's been doing this for 4 years, since I got the truck. Any suggestions?

Axle U joints are okay, it made this noise before I had the U joints along with all ball joints replaced in July. Sounds like a "click" from the cab, but it sounds like a "ping" from under the truck???

Front End Noise

Try checking your chassis crossmember bolts. Mine were loose and causing a similar noise. Good luck  -Dave
