Recently I had work done on my 2005 3500 Ram. They replaced upper and

lower ball joints ( both sides ) they also replaced the drag link. The wheel bearing was also replaced on the right side. The garage that did the work said eveything else seems good and tight but I am still am experiencing a situation of something not tight. Does anyone out there in truck land have any good leads on places to check where you might have had the same situation. Are there any inherent problem areas with these front ends ???? Thanx Roger M. Loose and or worn steering box. Many pitman shafts exibit side to side play with low mileage. I did the same to my truck that you did plus front tires.

Then I found the truck wandering. Was Ok before because the previous components

were loose and allowed the front end to centre on it's own. The new components were tight and would steer where it was aimed at. Put on a new steering box and all was OK.

P. S. I did not readjust my old box over centre preload because the inside bore was worn pretty good. I'm only on asphalt.

I have a clunk in my front end coming from the steering box

It is loose, sloppy, leaking and just a plain POS. I sure wish Dodge could put decent components in the front ends of these things

Found out today that the sway bar bushings are bad and the dealer is replacing those as well as the sway bar links. Also I had a steering box stabilizer on board and the sway bar bushings were allowing the bar to strike the support plate. Roger M.
