Installing A VE Pump (timing question)

i have a question about the front end shaking, or should i say the front wheels. as it is i feel every crack in the road but i count that as being a 1 ton. it does it when you step on the brakes. i was thinking front rotors warped but, i don't get any pulsing in the brake peddle. you can really feel it when you are braking in a turn or braking going down a hill... any ideas of what can be causing this problem... . rotors... ??? wheel bearings. . ??? any help would be gratelly appreciated... .

Worn out stearing parts can cause that. Also wrong caster ajustment( usually a 4x4 problem thogh). My wife's van is that way(94 chevy astro) I found the loose parts last weak end ( Like I need more to do lists).

My truck is doing the same thing, shimmying when braking. It's a Chevy, but still a Dana 60. Tracked it down to a loose tie rod end. Of course, it would be the long end that costs $100. :)

thanks for the help..... i was thinking front end parts too... . well i guess i go under front end and start checking things one by one... .

Mom's truck had gotten to where you would almost lose control if you hit the pedal just wrong. No pulsation through the pedal, more a side to side rocking, but it was still the rotors. Not a big job, forces you to repack bearings, and you can see how everything is inside there. I'd get the rotors checked. Not to say it isnt the front suspension- check it too. they are soooo stout under these CUmmins engines . Yeah, take a mediocre front end, put a 1000# engine on top of it, and just sorta beef up a few parts.

Mine too. My problem was one out of balance, and one out or round front tire. I am suspecting warped rotors as well although it hasn't happen since. When it happened I was braking lightly in a turn going downhill about 40mph.

Mom's was from 50 to 40; above or below that, or if you hit it hard, it was fine. Just medium pressure at those speeds.

You get it figured out, RFox?

looks more like rotors right now... ... . right front tire showing some wear on inside tread ... ... so next is to have aligment checked.....

heres the fix

my 93 1 ton WAS BAD, ti fix do these things

new rotars this helped the most, correctly bal all tires

i did rims and tires new, new frt stablizer, this can be done first but is only a bandade fix, see my ball joints are still orig,

and all susp parts , so that was not the problem,

mine did shake bad when going over a bump

ive not had shake since new rotors

also check streer box at frame for crack in frame

bill

thanks for the info bill..... going to take it in next week and have alignment and balance checked..... will probilly just put new rotors on just for GP's... ... . maybe new front tires don't like the ones on there now... ... . thanks again for your input... ... ... rich

Well, mine shook again so it wasn't the tires out of balance. I had the brakes looked at and the rotors were warped. Had the rotors turned, no pulsing or shimmy when braking now.

Just got back to northwest Oh. from a trip to Verginia. Pulled a light trailor with two 4 wheelers and a old JD. corn planter. Truck shakes horandlesly above 60. Some one said looked like my front axle was bouncing up and down badly. Jacked it up and the tires spin smooth. ? Maby shocks My brother put 1200 dollers in the front of this truck because of this and it still does it. He just let it go now I inhaereted the problem.

well fixed the problem with the shaking front end... . installed new rotors today and boy what a difference... hit the brake peddle let go of the wheel, and truck o straight as and arrow now... talked to a friend over the weekend about the problem, and he said you have warped rotors... . should have asked him in the first place---- he worked in a brake shop for 30 years... . daa... .

D350 Shimmy

I have been tracing mine for about 1 1/2 years. I had new tires, dynamic

balance, used the nuts to center the wheel... rebuilt the front end. My

shake came from the passenger side and here is what I found: The

Disc was not warped but, the disc was machined off center... . I could

spin the disc around and see the wall thickness change... . it turned true

but, was off. I have a new set of discs that I am going to use when

I get back home. You may want to pull your wheel off and check this out

spin it around while on a jackstand.....
