I have had this terrible squeak for a while in the front end that sounds like it is coming from near the shocks.

I only seem to get the squeaking when going over bumbs, which leads me to believe that it has something to do with the shocks, but I can't seem to figure out where it is.

Has anybody had this same issue and what is the cure? I am about ready to buy new shocks to see if this cures the problem. I thought I read somewhere on the TDR a while ago that the problem was that one of the brackets near that front shocks was rubbing on something or was loose, but I can't find the post.

Anyone have any ideas?

One possibility:

If it squeeks more while turning the steering wheel left or right, soak down the steering shaft under the hood with WD-40.

I will definately try that... though I haven't noticed the squeaking when turning, I seem to only get it when driving on bumpy roads.

Check the torque on the control arm bolts. I have seen quite a few loose, and they will squeek. If left unchecked they will actually start to wear out the hole on the mounting bracket on the frame. Don't ask me how I know
