I recently installed new axle seals, hubs, and EGR calipers and rotors on the front end of my pickup. I noticed a front end vibration that I never had before that starts at about 50MPH and continues off and on at speeds above that. It is more pronounced when taking a turn at those higher speeds. It is a highspeed vibration that is felt thru the steering wheel as well as the truck itself. I have put about 500 miles on since the install, and it is still there. Any ideas on what I could have done to cause this or how I can diagnose it better?

I havn't talked to the since I didn't think it had anything to do with the rotors or calipers. It brakes nice and smooth, so I am guessing it is in either the wheel bearings or axle. Could I have done something to the front diff when I took it apart to install the axle seals?

Its been a while since I posted this, so its time for an update.

I have replaced the entire front end. New ball joints, tie rod, tie rod ends, drag link, sway bar, sway bar bushings, sway bar end links, control arm bushings, new Kore suspension with steering stabilizer, new axle shafts and u-joints. Got it aligned to specs found on this site. Every bolt and nut is torqued to spec.

I find that I get a vibration around 55-65 MPH. Its a rapid "shimmy" that is felt through the floor boards, seats, as well as the steering wheel. It seems to be worse when turning. Its not there all of the time, but seems to come and go. Its there on both smooth and rough road. I am starting to think it is due to either the BFG's or my old $50 steel wheels. Tried rotating the tires, and it was still there, although it seemed to slightly change. Might have been my imagination... I have placed my hand on the transfer case shift knob and I don't seem to feel the vibration as bad as I do through the steering wheel. My steering box is shot and I have excessive steering play, and I am going to replace that soon, but I wouldn't think that is the problem. Any other ideas? Front drive shaft maybe? I am going to pull it off and then put new u-joints in the rear drive shaft and get it balanced this week before I spend a bunch on new wheels and tires. Its driving me nuts, and my girlfriend now wears a sports bra when she rides with me due to the bounce.

I'm chasing something similar... though I haven't replaced the front bearings. I got it when I had the front driveshaft rebuilt. While I had it off, the vibration was gone so I went round and round with the driveshaft place over the balance. Had it balanced and true'd again by another shop to within 0. 005"... still have a vibration at 50 and then again 65-74... kinda comes and goes... almost as the truck warms up or something. I read a post somewhere that said someone had talked about the diff oil being bad... changed it and it was gone! Sounds kinda hoaky to me too but I'm up for anything at this point!! I'd like to try this ASAP and see.

I will take my front drive shaft off and see what happens. Since the truck is lifted a bit, the angle could be causing an issue. As for the diff fluid, replaced it about 5000 miles ago with redline synthetic when I replaced the axle seals. There are a couple folks out there that have had issues with the BFG's, so I am leaning towards getting a set of Toyo's to try and fix the problem.
