Ok front end is sloppy. Needs two tires in rear so newer fronts go to rear and two new tires in front. I guess tires Michelins are 600 I guess. Is the front end work worth that much? Thanks.

The prices can change a lot between economic parts and high end parts. You can find cheap steering kits on ebay but where do they come from and what quality to expect ?
For high end components, here's an example :

Years ago, like others, I've converted mine to the HD steering set up (wich you can find for 98-99 models, see diagram) with parts from NAPA.
The picture shows you the part numbers from NAPA. Mine is a 97. Don't know for sure if it fits on yours.

Same thing about the ball joint. Carli, Synergy and Dynatrack used to make upgraded ball joints but the cost is prohibitive.
I've used Mevotech parts with good results, but have to grease often if you want them to last (and the upper BJ is not ''greasable friendly'').

You will be able to find a lot of advices, since the front end is known to be a very weak part of our trucks...

The biggest difference I felt was when I ditched the stock track bar for the 3rd gen adjustable. Handles like a sports car now.

It's all original at 190,000. Did the ball joints where you pull the hubs. They are good I think I did them twice not sure. All the other stuff is shot up front. I want at least OEM grade parts I know some after market stuff is so cheap it boggles my mind. I think it was a part for my excursion ball joint was 25 bucks on eBay and I bought Moog for 4-8x more. I need to go get estimate. Want to see if steering shock is included. Don't feel like rolling around on ground this time of year.

The track bar and steering stabilizer can be bought at Genos. Here’s my list on Amazon for the final HD steering upgrade I plan on doing. It’s a lot of money I know but you won’t be disappointed. I did mine in steps and the track bar seemed to work the best. The only thing I haven’t done is the steering shaft/steering gear upgrade. My truck is WAY less stressful to drive on twisty mountain roads.

This is what you get with the HD set up. It's perhaps not so obvious on the pics but the parts seem much stronger than the original set up. There is no provision for the steering damper with my MY or you have to go custom or after market, but it's perhaps different for 2000 to 2002 MY. I did not go that course since I did not notice such a difference with or without the steering damper.
Like I said parts were coming from NAPA, they were not the cheapest but not the more expensive. I swapped in 2013 and they seem to hold well, but I grease them at each and between oil changes...
I don't have the prices on hand but 4 years later and an other country sure make the thing not very helpful.

Added up parts on rockauto.com all Moog best they make 288 estimate is 1029 huge difference. Labor to replace parts 485.00 alignment separate. Yikes if he charged 500 for parts I could see it not over 1000.
