A month or so ago a salesman told me the Front Hood Protection Shield was a clear film bra like covering on the truck hood and I reported the same on another thread. Wrong
Since then I found out and others have posted also, the Front Hood Protection Shield is actually a bug/wind deflector with the Dodge Ram logo. But I was not able to get any info on the clear protective film.
When I went to pick up our new 5'er I saw a flyer for a "Clear Bra. " I did several searches on Google found the following.
Clear Bra ( http://www.clearbra.net/ ) and other retail names is from Ricochet Protect ( http://www.ricochetprotects.com/index.htm] ) It is a 12 mil and thicker protective film apparently made in Canada.
3M also makes a "Paint Protective Film" sometimes called "Scotchcal" ( http://products3.3m.com/catalog/us/...ler/output_html.). The 3M film is retailed under several different names too. 3M's film is 8 mils thick. 3M does not sell retail but does have an aftermarket catalog with some neat things you may be interested in for "detailing" and more.
I found an informative product bulletin for the TDR techies
( http://www.xpel.com/paint/scotchal.html). If you look around they also have a link for installers. 3M also has a installer link ( http://www.3m.com/us/auto_marine_ae...-complete.jhtml).
These links should keep you busy for awhile
. . explore
there is some really good info in them.
I really like the idea of putting a heavy film on our soon to be ordered 2003
especially on the rocker panels and aft of the rear wheels. The rocks really did a number on our '99 especially with the Dodge white undercoat, it was real ugly. But just had it touched up and detailed, looks great again
and soon to be on the market to sell.
