Where can I get a good deal on front hub bearings? My left front hub bearings is shot all to hec (Again ! ) after 45,000 miles. I will check back when I get access to a cumputer. Thanks for the info HCanales

Timken!!

Timken bearings are the best. I think Autozone now carries Timken wheel bearings.

Autopartsgiant.com may even carry Timken.

Advance auto parts, the whole 4x4 hub assembly #515012 0211B Under 200 bucks these have timken bearings Nice unit I did have one go bad after a year and 1/2 and they replaced it no questions asked.

Good luck Dirk

You cannot replace the bearings in the unit. (or if you can, please someone tell me so I don't have to spend big bucks. )It comes as a whole unit. I had to replace both front end bearings 50,000 miles ago and not they are bad again. POS parts.

Glad you all said that. . I had no idea mine had a warrantee.

No need for a receipt with mine. . they know where all of my parts come from... :D

Thanks for the replies folks. I don't understand... Why did the original bearings last 140,000 and 175,000 miles and I only managed 40,000 miles out of the replacements? Thats all highway miles too.

Would it be neccecery to set preload on the center nut? Perhaps there is certain procedures that I don't know about?

Thanks HCanales

The center nut only holds the axle shaft in tight, it has nothing to do with bearing preload. Maybe the cheaper bearing hubs are not made as well or with the good bearings??? They should last longer.

The center nut has to have some effect on the bearings at 285 ft lbs of torque!!!!

I've replaced a ton of these. Some last 50K, some last 200K. I haven't found a rhyme or reason to it yet... ...

As for replacement bearings, I have a few hubs laying around that could use a set if someone figures that out!

The unit hubs on the D60s is a similar arrangement to the D30s used in Jeeps for the last 20 years, albeit a heavier arrangement.

Yes, the axle and axle nut have an effect on the bearings. Without an axle shaft in place, expect to lose the bearing in less than a couple of miles. I ruined 2 D30 assemblies by not getting enough torque on the axle nut (Jeep FSM calls for 175 ft. /lbs. )
