Has anybody found a source for a new 4x4 front wheel hub for the Dana 60? My outer bearing race is so loose that it fell out. It is too loose to knurl and I don't dare use any Loctite type solution. I tried Drivetrain Warehouse, they had a new spindle for $107 but could not supply a hub.

Other options

RDBuck,

I am just curious if you could turn the hub out and have a sleeve pressed/loctited in and then install the race. It is just an idea, but it might be less expensive to buy a new hub. I have a set of hubs off a 1 ton, but not for a 250.

hub

Thanks for the reply Case. The problem with buying a new hub from Chrysler is that they sell the hub with the rotor for $450-$500. To make matters worse Budd (who made the hub) has been sold to Bosch and they are no help in finding a supplier for the hub. Aftermarket sources-at least the 4-5 I've tried -don't carry this hub. Junkyards are reluctant to sell just the hub, they would rather sell you the whole front end which is understandable. In my area there are no machine shops to do a build-up and rebore.

It seems the parts situation for the 1st gens is becoming somewhat of a problem except for the motor. I am not impressed with Chrysler support in the parts area- they do not hesitate to gouge us for what parts they do have,in this case there is no need to charge for a brake rotor that is a separate peice altogether.

Check with Power Grizz

RD,

Check with Power Grizz (look for his thread) as a deer took his truck out. He might be able to spare a hub for you to help you keep your truck on the road.

Just found why you cannot buy a hub for the Dana 60 front end, Chrysler has a hold on this item as a "dealer only". After many calls to aftermarket drive train suppliers a friendly sales person read direct from the Dana/Spicer literature that stated this bit of info. What happens when Chrysler decides to stop carrying the part? According to this guy his company has to buy the hubs from Chrysler when they need them. Guess I just have to bite the bullet for $400.

You might want to check with these guys. before spending $400. They handle pickup parts and semi parts. It is not the typical junk yard, they have cleaned up, checked out used parts on the shelf. I have bought Dana 60 parts from them. They are near me, and away from you, but I believe they ship parts. If they have one and won't ship it, I could pick it up and send it to you.

After calling all over the country, internet junk yards,Dana Spicer, Budd which is now owned by Bosch, 4x4 parts wholesalers, Drivetrain warehouse, etc. ,etc. , I finally found a source for aftermarket hubs for the Dana 60. Ventures Truck Part & Equipment, Ogden,Utah 84401, tel. (801)621-0091 or 1-800-464-1713. They have contracted with the same shop that makes locking hubs and winches for Warn to make the hub for the Dana 60. The cost is $200. Chrysler wants $400+ which includes the rotor. I ordered one and will post the results when it arrives.
