Got an easy question. When you have the front hubs out along with the speed sensors can you grease the bearings thru the speed sensor hole? Does the grease actually get to the bearings or are they sealed? I have seen conflicting info.

Thanks

Randy

The grease drops into the cavity between the bearings, but it will get into the bearings as the unit bearings get warm and the grease gets slung around...

The bearings are typical tapered roller bearings with a plastic cage... they are not sealed bearings inside the housing.

Thats what I thought. I had the hubs out to replace the ujoints last fall put grease in them. I applied grease and rotated then more grease then rotated etc... .

I hope it helped??

Thanks for the reply,

Randy

When I had the one's from my 2nd gen apart, there was less than a teaspoon of grease in the entire unit.

We greased my dad's truck when we pulled the unit bearings for balljoint replacement... he has over 280k on the clock and original unit bearings. I feel it helps...
