It is pretty much straight forward.
Jack truck up and use beefy jackstands under frame so the suspension is at full droop (needs to be about six inches minimum off floor)
Take off tires, unhook the swaybar from both sides, unbolt the bracket that holds the brake lines to the axle so you wont stretch them. Take out lower shock bolts. Use second bottle jack to GENTLY give yourself the added room you need. Pull bottom of spring out of mount. Pull down and remove spring at this point. Reach up inside and pull the rubber grommet out of the space below the shock towers. Remove nuts from shock tower and pull the ring with the studs from the same area as the rubber grommet. Put spacer (assuming steel) studs up through the holes for the shock tower bolts, Re-attach shock tower. Put the rubber grommet on the bottom of the steel spacer, then work the factory spring back to where it came out of makikng sure the tail end of the spring rides in the proper 'hole' that is meant for the tail end of spring. Look before you take apart or run to other side to confirm where placement goes. (If you replace shocks at same time I would leave the shock out till last then install them from the top) Release bottle jack and finish installing shock.
Do the same for other side.
When both sides are done re-connect the sway-bar. Attach the brake lines back where they belong. Throw the tires on and that is that. It took me and a buddy about 30-35 minutes to do both sides (not changing shocks) Not at all as complicated as it seems.
Id say go for it.
Hope this helps and I am sure if I forgot something someone will speak up.
