Does anybody know the Skyjacker part numbers for our application (1 ton - 4x4)? Anyone running these springs with any experiences to share? How level is level? ~ don't really want to drag my rear if I throw a camper in the bed...

For those that have the spings in, did you use a 2" steering block or was the steering geometry fine without?

Also I was thinking of going with either the Rancho RSX or 9000's up front - part numbers for a 2" lift? Comments on either of these shocks or is there something better? Bilsteins?

Thanks, Ken

I can't remember the p/n's for the springs since I installed them in '94. At that time, every used Cummins I looked at with more than 40k miles, without aftermartket front springs, had the front sping perches f'd up, usually the rivets were shearing off. The stock springs were garbage. I installed the Skyjacker 2. 5" "kit" which included rear blocks also. The ride was greatly improved. For proper p/n's I ordered factory direct from the phone number listed in 4-Wheeler magazine.

The camper I uaed to haul on the '92 was a Kodiak and was very, very light for a 9" camper. I now haul an 11'6" Caribou on the '01 dually. I have learned thru the years that it works the best if your truck is slightly rear down (lower in the rear). The reason is when you go to level up in a camp spot, leaving th camper on, the rear of your truck rises the quickest. Also note that if the rear of your truck is "rear down", then the u-join angles are better on a lifted truck.

Thanks Miklos for the info. and feedback. I also went back and searched the archives and found some info as well - need to get in the habit of doing that before posting...

Anyone else care to comment on these springs?

I also am using the skyjacker 2. 5" lift in the front fo mine and even with the 300# front bumber grill gaurd the front is still where it needs to be with about 75,000 miles on them. As for the rear I have the kelderman air ride so I can also adjust the rear according to load.

The steering geometry is fine ususally if you go 4" or higher this becomes an issue.

As far as shocks i used the stock ones for a while except they were to their longest length but the ride was EXCELLENT. I called skyjacker and got a set of the correct length nitro "soft rides" and the ride was alot worse at first. I now have some rough country shocks that goes with there 4" lift kit and the ride is great.

I ordered mine spring from 4wheeler part wholesalers. I have done business with them for some time and have never been dissapointed. Even if they don't advertise it they probably have it.

Good luck.

Springs

I remember ordering mine from National Tire and Wheel. Be sure to ask for the bushing kit for the two 1/2" bolts OD in the back and the 5/8" bolts up front. I haven't gotten mine on due to the bushing (they sent me 4 1/2" bushings) and replacing my motor. Good luck with yours.

Hey KMC!:)

Check out this past posting for Skyjacker P/N's in my posting. Other good info in this posting also w/ regard to correct part numbers.

I got a set for my buddy from my local 4X4 shop for a great price... I can check w/ them for a pricing for you if you wish. They were better than any of the mail order shops he checked. email or PM if interested.

Guys, thanks for the feedback and assistance. I had called a local shop a few weeks ago and they quoted me $144 ea. I am going to call Skyjacker and verify part numbers before I take the plunge however. I already ordered the RS9000 shocks and went with the size for a 2. 25" - 4" lift. I figured if I kept the stock shock length I might pull them appart the next time I came up after going over a big woop d' do.

Once I get rolling on some of these improvements I will post pictures on my web site. I also plan to begin some bombing excercises once the gauges are in. I m going to add each component one at a time and note changes in boost, etc. Kind of like a reseach project or something...

Ken

EDIT : FYI - I just ordered the springs through Summit Racing for $141. 69 ea. That's not tax (outside of Ohio & Nevada) and no shipping - just a $6. 95 handling charge. Just in case anyone else is looking for a good deal on these springs.
