Front Lift question: New springs or spacers?

Howdy all,



I am going to be doing a front leveling or lift kit very soon, and can't make up my mind: do I add steel spacers to my existing front coil springs, or do I go with all new, taller coils? I am thinking a 2 1/2" - 3" lift. I am also going to be ordering a Denver OffRoad front bumper with 12K winch, which is one reason for the lift. After reading the OEM tags on my coil springs today, I have a 046 driver's side coil and a 039 passenger side coil.



I am planning on including the following items in the lift:



Either steel spacers or all new coil springs

Bilstein shocks (all around actually)

DT track bar

upper and lower control arms

Skyjacker.....

Skyjacker 2 1/2" lift is what I have with the DT track bar and dual shocks. Great ride . Sam

Skyjacker coils is the only way to go,spacer's are not legal in some states and with the additional weight you'll bottom the stock spring anyway. Also the stock shock's will still work. The coil price is around $220 took me 1 hour 15 min. to install both sides. Their great. I suggest the skyjacker quad hydro shock set up,to take the boat float out of it. Not the nitro!!!! Way to stiff!!!

I am considering a small lift as well, and I am thinking along the same lines as you.



You might consider a drop pitman arm to make the lift even more "complete". JMHO

Do it right and get the whole kit (d252k) You get upper and lower control arms, they are longer to center the wheel in the wheel-well and are much stronger. The dual shock are great, gone is the tendency to bottom out over speed bumps. The coils arent mush the the stock ones, just nice and firm.



I aslo would recommend a DT track bar. Steering is much more percise and there is no wandering when braking.

Cooker- What is the effect of putting on a drop pitman arm on such a small lift? If it is to correct bump steer I dont notice any even without steering dampers. Just curious, I'm always looking for things to much my truck drive and ride better.

Decision has been reached

Ok, I called National Tire & Wheel today and ordered the ful Skyjacker Double Flex Class 2 2 1/2" lift kit, which includes double front shock mount, upper and lower control arms with heim joints at both ends, and all 6 Nitro shocks. I'll just not install the rear add-a-leaf springs , but will have them if I ever wabt to add them. Which I will if I ever go to larger size tires.
