Brought my truck in on Thursday for front pinion leaking. No seal in stock so they o'nighted one. Picked up truck Friday afternoon and drove the 5 miles back to the office. After installing my AFE mag-force and TAG.
I wanted to check the FLUID LEVEL in the diff. . Boy did I get ******. Looked like the tech. left this big old mess and didnt clean the fluid where it was leaking from before the fix. I cleaned the whole diff. with Safety Solvent. Drove the 13 miles home and seal is leaking again. Very Badly!!
I had suggested to the service writer to check the vent tube to see if it was clogged. There was a nice little note on my paperwork that said it was checked. So, If the breather is not clogged what could couse the leak again in 18 miles. Here are my thoughts please give me yours:
1. The breather is clogged and was never checked.
2. The front drive shaft is out of balance.
3. The TC has some kind of problem causing it
Give me some more ideas for when I go back.
Thanks!!!
