Front Pinion Shaft Seal Leak

I have 120,00 on the clock of my 2006, 3500. Noticed the telltale sign of a leaking pinion shaft seal on my front diff. Replaced it without a hitch, followed the instructions in factory repair manual, etc. Did see what appeared to be a dust seal also in the yoke, did not replace that, nor can I find a part number for it. My concern is I've done the repair and still see what appears to be weeping around the shaft, still. Any suggestions. I know the diff is not over filled, I changed the fluid at about 100,000 to Amsoil Extreme Gear 75-90 synthetic oil.

Was there a groove in the yoke where the seal rides?

Really don't remember seeing any grooves around shaft. But at my age, I forget a lot. I ordered a Mopar factory seal and will dig back into it in a few weeks.

Just look closely at the yoke. No seal will hold if it has to ride in a groove.

Already ordered a new yoke from Steve White Motors on EBay. When I get back under and pull it back apart, I'm just going to replace the unit. Should have done that first and I wouldn't be doing it again. I needed the practice, Ha ha.

I did as you did with similar results. Just replacing the seal (twice) did not stop the weeping . Changed the yoke and seal..........problem solved.

I've replaced my seal three times so far, and at 162k, it's leaking again. Anyone got a quick part number for the yoke. I really would like to fix this for good.

Why not just use a "speed sleeve". Have repaired many shafts with these at a fraction of the cost of a new part and have yet to ever have a failure. Will take about five minutes to install one of these on the yoke. They can be purchased at any industrial supply house or bearing/seal store. I have replaced my front seal once already and can remember no appreciable wear on the yoke and it is seeping again after about 30,000. Will pull and measure yoke and use a "speedi sleeve" when I replace the seal again.
