Hi folks, this is my first post, but ime a long time reader. Couldnt sit on the sidelines anymore. I went to do a re-pack on my front wheel bearings. As i rotated the rotor, i saw about a 10-15 thousandths warp. I cant feel any vibration whan i brake but that warp would surely transfer to the bearings on hard braking. . Would recutting them fix it or leave it?. I bought the truck used with 100,000 miles and have ONLY changed the fuel return line(OH MY GOD!!!) Ray

Thats a lot of run-out. I'm not sure what D?C says is the limit for rotor run-out. The truck does not shimmy or pulsate when you step on the brakes? My rotors are warped too. Had them turned , that was it. The shimmy is much worse in HOT weather. It is not bad at all in the COLD weather. If the truck stops ok, and does not shimmy bad, I'd leave them alone.

That fuel return line is a ***** to get to!

We turn brake rotors at the store. I can tell you that ALL brake rotors are warped to some extent or another. They just generate too much heat to not have some warpage. If you are only doing a re-pack and you don't feel any pulsating, I wouldn't worry about it. To be honest, part of what you are seeing is probably an optical illusion. I know, it doesn't seem that way but it is. Sometimes I chuck stuff up on the lathe and everything is set just perfect and you stand there and watch it turn and you'd swear that it's wobbling but it's not. Bottom line, if you can't feel it shimmy when you apply the brakes than you don't have too much warpage.
