This has been covered many times before, but I plan on going a little farther with it. First the 2005, with leather is a real bad seat, for me I found the thing to soft in the center, I did the 1" foam trick, that helped, but the real problem is first the seat is mounted to high off the cab floor, mine is all the way down on the front of the seat, and 70% up on the rear of the seat, why they mounted the front of the seat track on the raised bump is hard to understand. I suspect the designers were 5 ft tall. Anyway the other problem is the base is to short, there isn't enough padding behind your knees. So what I am going to do is remove the seat , and the seat base, lower the front down a good inch and a half by removing the floor bump the seat is attached to, add a structrual support under the floor, and a 3/8" steel plate where the bump was, cut the seat base where needed, and reweld with added steel if needed, I cant stand this any longer, I will fix this one way or another. This is not going to be easy, but I am half way into a 55 Chevy restoration, so this should be a one day event, I will keep everyone posted on how it comes out.

You'll reinforce the area around that 3/8" plate, right? I mean, there's no point at all welding that plate to the body sheet metal.

older seats

Hey Doupe do what I did and put a set of older seats in the front like I did. It took me about a month to do it but it sure was worth it. I even replaced the center console as i didn't like the stock one. They are a little tight though and just barely clear the seat belt pillar on both sides.

I wouldn't mess with the floor. See if you can just cut the seat frame, and relocate it lower. Move the whole cushion forward from the seatback, to give you more thigh support. I think the lumbar adjustment may be too much and may push you too far forward on the seat.

Or use aftermarket car seats. They sit lower.

Removing the floor support isn't a problem, it is a stamped metal piece, spot welded to the floor sheet metal. I can remove the spot welds, cut it down, then reweld it, or replace the brace with two sections of steel, one under the floor, and one on top. The other option is remove the seat track, remove the small block that is under it, and redrill the front mounting holes, that would net about an inch, and I also have been looking at the Bostrom seats, I don't have the specs yet, but they look very nice, but I suspect a little expensive. After I get the Brostrom specs, I will decide, then remove the seat and see what will be the plan, none of this will take more than 8 hours to do. Some I understand have installed air seats, I wonder what brand, and how they fit, and look ?. Thanks for the tips, Ron
