I am having issues with my drivers seat..... It literally feels as if I am sitting on steel bars my hips and legs don't feel so great after a road trip. I really noticed it a few days ago I had to go into a new home site where it was a bit muddy and did some bouncing around to get back to it. And it was really noticable not much cushion or support at all. The supports seem way to close together or something.

My dealer shows no TSB's on the issue and called his area Rep and he says he has had no complaints.

As many of these trucks that are on the road I am finding it hard to believe I am the only one who has this problem.

Anyone else?????? If so did you get it fixed and how???

I called Dodge and the rep told me if no TSB or Recall I may have to live with it if its the way its designed. I said "YEAH RIGHT"

Just very disappointed in this expensive truck as I was planning on keeping it a long time and it seems Dodge made alot of cutbacks or something.

Rant over... ... . :-{} For now

Thanks for any info you guys can give.

Same here! I complained as well and got the "Their all like that" response, as if that makes it ok. There was a thread on this a while back. I'm going to complain some more next trip in because mine is getting worse and I've got 25K on mine now.

Being a skinny-a$$ white boy I haven't noticed any problems with the seats, even on 8 hour drives. But in the previous thread that was mentioned I think the fix was getting an air-ride seat and replacing the OEM seat.

I went on a 3500 mile trip last October and put 8 hours a day for most of the trip including one 22 hour run and was very comfortable. I thought it was comparable to the Intrepid I used the year before that. Either you have a bad one or perhaps the way you sit or are shaped is not compatible with the seat.

I guess I don't feel i should have to fix this on a brand new truck.

I like the truck otherwise and have had no real problems... But the steel rail in the hips doesn't feel to hot.

We have a 2000 Intrepid that we have put 145000 miles on so far and we have no problems with the seats in that car.

But so far this seat seems like a bad design.

I used to complain about my Denali seats and people would look at me like I was crazy. My first drive in this truck was 1100 miles in 13 hours and I actually like these seats.

Wonder if you got a bad set? Have you tried jumping in a couple at the dealer for kicks? It would suck to be uncomfortable in such a nice truck. I've been there and would dread driving home, squirming and twisting all the way.

Good luck

I drove my friends 3rd gen from Chicago to Laramie, WY 15 hours and hated every min. of it. They are rather uncomfortable.

Give me my properly valved 2nd gen any day:p

Yeah I went to my dealer today and checked out a few new ones on the lot. The new ones seemed to curve up more at the sides and seemed firmer. But I would have to check out a slightly used one to see if their is a difference or not. I am not sure if mine has just broke down that much already or what..... But it sure does suck that I have to deal with such a dumb thing on this kind of a high priced vehicle with so called premium seats.

I drove mine 550 miles the first day I got it and had no TB syndrome and my back felt great. My wife likes the seats better than any car we have had. I have got a bunch of comments on how nice the seats feel on long trips. Some people like the overstuffed 80's couch feel, but they make my butt and back sore. I have talked to a lot of ram owners and none have said anything bad about the seats, so I think it is a preference issue not a bad design.

My preference is to not have to feel steel rails in my hips. So I feel it is a bad design. The support rails are to close together and they use very little padding right above those rails. I have owned many many different trucks and I have never had this issue ever. It would be different if I was feeling just slightly uncomfortable or something... But I am literally on the rails. To me this is just a bad seat design and another way for DC to save some money by using less material overall.

Mine have gotten worse over time and natually, bugged me more after the issue was brought up in the last thread. Does that make me a hypotruckiac?

I have tried to ignore it myself thinking I was just being picky... . But it really is a problem.....

i suggest sitting in your truck seat and then push down on the seat right behind your hip..... There is a nice steel bar there with no cushion on it... ... . I sure hope I can get mine fixed or upgraded or something.

That's the problem with short test drives. You can never tell about the long term comfort of seats. I bought a Camry several years ago after test driving one at the dealership. What I didn't know was that the test drive was in a car that was one year older than the one I ordered and, on the one I ordered, Toyota decided to remove one "axis" on their electric seats. You could no longer adjust the angle of the seat cushion. By the time I got home after a 2 1/2 hour drive from where I picked the car up, my butt was in serious trouble. Eight months later, I traded it off (and took a beating) and bought a Jeep G. C. (that had the most adjustable and comfortable seats of any rig I ever owned. )

My wife and I both like the seats in our 2003 Dodge. She likes riding in the truck better than in her Accord and so do I. Thank goodness the seats in the new truck worked out well.

I keep reading threads like this, and frankly, I don't get it.

I drove my truck for 22 hours STRAIGHT. Stopped only for fuel and I found the seats comfy. There must be a common denominator. I am 5' 11" and 195 lbs.

Dave

ps. I have the Premium Cloth Interior.

I did too, comfy as well and I am 6'-4" 260. I am not real easy to please either. 30 minutes in the bench seat of my company Ford 1/2 ton and I am ready to shoot myself.

I'm 5'10" 175lbs. I found the seats to be less comfortable initially but after spending a 14 hour day in them I was impressed. They seem to work well over the long haul.

I don't feel any rail in my seat. I also have only 24k miles since nov 02, so it might get worse. I do have leather, but it shouldn't make much difference. Mabey it's the non petite guys like myself that like them? Still doesn't explain my wife or others I have spoken with.

Im 5'11 and 220lb and I find the driver side very nice. Much nicer than my Corvette. On the other hand, my wife, 5'8'' 120lb hates the passenger side. No lumbar support and non electric adjustment. I bought her one of those seat pads that is heated and vibrates. Now she is fine! I guess I should have upgraded to the leather option with the DUAL electric seats. Another $1,000.

UGH>. . I still like the prem cloth over the hot leather.

Compared to my 96 PSD CC Dually, I think the Ram seat is much better. Maybe I'm full of it, did 10. 25 hrs today in the F350, my lower back hurts. I average 10 hrs a day every day. I'm gonna get an air ride eventually for the Ram. The inflatable lumbar support bladder isn't working in the PSD, my backs been acheing for months. Thought I was just getting old and missing my sleeper. After I drop a load. . . I'm too dam old to be sleeping in a truck seat.

Cheers,

Steve J.
