I've installed a JVC aftermarket radio in my 98. 5 RAM - to give front panel AUX input for my Sirius radio, MP3/CD playback, and mostly just for fun. The front door speakers work fine on the OEM radio, but I can't get them working with the JVC. I've checked wiring, tested front/rear spkrs with a 1. 5VDC battery, but no luck on the fronts (rears are fine). I've bypassed the new connector adapter, going 1. 5VDC straight to the old connector for front speakers, but not a peep, again rears are found OK. Wiring diagram on top of OEM radio follows same standard as new connector diagram. Anything special about the front door speaker wiring I'm not seeing? Thanks.

i know it sounds trivial but did you adjust the fader on the radio? i would have a hard time believing your factory wiring just crapped out on you... in fact i never change the factory wiring, it is usually strong and better insulated the anything you could put in aftermarket.

If your truck has the Infinity stereo option the front speakers have little amps on them that need to be powered. You can use the remote turn on lead from the new head unit to power the OEM amps.

Good catch Ryan. The front door speakers had the built in OEM amps. I ended up by replacing the OEM speakers with a pair of Alpine 2-wire speakers that sound good with the replacement radio/CD. Now I can listen to my Sirius with a direct wire AUX input as well as made-in-the-home MP3 CDs. Thanks.
