I was supprised to find I have a broke front drivers side coil today. There's been a nasty noise when hitting a roughf spot on the road which prompted me to look underneith. One coil is gone and the spring is sitting out of place. Has this happened to anyone else?

Where and what type of replacement is recommended?

Thanks

I have the original springs off my '99 sitting in the garage. You can still easily read the tags on them. They were on for a VERY short time after I bought the truck.

They're yours for the shipping if you like.

I'm suprised those broke. No recent accidents?

If none, you better stop jumping that truck mister. LOL

Go with factory replacements, free ones above or check ebay

Also have a set of springs of a 98. 5 (friend of mine took my fresh 01 springs)

Have about 80k on them yours for shipping They are tagged with the 39 and 38.

If you find a set with 46/47 I would get those above these. Just my 2 cents.

I have a set of 38/39 sitting in my garage as well. Probably end up in the trash eventually. But, in general, I recommend replacing something that breaks (OEM) with something better when possible.

I'd recommend new coils from CSS (Coil Spring Specialties). They can be custom built to your specifications. I went softer in spring rate and taller. Would not get me back into OEM now as I like the ride much better.

The price shipped to Colorado was around $200. The springs themselves are 1" thick instead of . 78 or close like the stockers too. I replaced mine for height and ride improvements, not because one broke.

Let me know if you have any other questions on the CSS... not affiliated, just a happy customer.

Wow, me too. I had been expierencing some weird thumps bumps and grinds but I just thought it was the typical Dodge ball joints going (I sure do put a lot of ball joints in this rig). It was also pulling to the right under moderate to heavy braking. Again, thought it was the !*&)#* ball joints. It was due for inspection and when he got to looking it has a broken right coil spring, hmmmmm it was pullin' to the right also. Don't know what it's gonna cost me but I'm used to payin thru the nose for front end components for this truck. Does anyone know if there is a solution for the lower ball joints going prematurely?
