You need a pitman arm puller, available at napa or the like, for relatively cheap. Just attach the puller, tighten up real good, then wack it with a medium sized hammer, and it will POP... Do a search on damper, you will find multiple articles relating to this. .

Lorlando,

At Pep Boys here in Colorado you can “rent” a pitman arm puller. You have to put a deposit down (I think it was $10 or $15 for the puller) when you get the tool but the entire deposit is refunded when you return the tool. I think the standard checkout time is around 10 days. They have quite a few different tools in this program – spring compressors, torque wrenches, etc.

Wow, I guess I am not that smart. I replaced one about a year ago on my 96 when I was putting it up for sale. I had no idea you needed a puller. Doh!! I did get it off with a sawsall and a hammer tho!

puller is best... . I used heat and a BFH (big frikkin hammer) due to lack of puller. Wouldn't recommend that method.
