Lately I have developed a whine in the steering. It sounds like when the fluid level is low, but it is not. I also have noticed a slight vibration when cuising at hwy speeds. In fact, it makes my hands fall asleep after extended periods of time. After years of having my arm yanked on by buckin' horses I don't have the best circulation anymore, but the steering wheel has gotten much worse. Like most of you, I have had many of the same old issues and I'm looking at maybe starting to upgrade the front end a little. Where would be a good place to start? I had it up on the lift a few months ago with a pry bar and couldn't find anything obvious but there is definitely something there - quite possibly many somehtings.

If you were to offer advice to someone (me) where would be the best place to start on a truck with no obvious issues?

As with all vehicle fluids (including brake and blinker fluids), P/S fluid should be changed periodically.

Drain and flush the P/S fluid. Replace with a good quality synthetic. If that changes nothing, check the P/S fluid pressure regulator to ensure it's working correctly.
