I just had my 2014 CC SB 2500 4X4 recall done and being a little hesitant to have this done to my truck when the my welds on my frame bracket looked excellent I took her in to Larry Miller in Boise and in about 5 hours go a call that it was done . This recall can require a new braket be welded on if the old welds show fatigue and cracking . Since mine did not the recall calls for installation of two diagonal steel braces to support and capture the track bar if at any point the factory bracket starts to crack at the welds and starts to come loose . After seeing the parts and how the installation was accomplished I am pleased that this is not just a band aid fix but a permanent solution and peace of mind that my bracket, although it had no apparent signs of fatigue or cracked welds where it attaches to the frame , it is hard to know if the welds had inferior penetration and might fail in the future . Very happy with the workmanship , very neat clean install and it did not change my alignment .

I have an appointment to have mine done next week. Drove it to AZ and back over the winter.

I crawled under and inspected it several times over the winter since I tow a large 5th wheel and didn't want to end up in a ditch.

Looks like a good fix. They must be spending a lot of money re-doing the track bar mounts nationwide.

Picked mine up Monday and when driving on the highway it feels like the shocks are out. No death wobble or anything, but it doesn't feel as rigid as it did. I hit a hole taking a corner and just about lost it. Service guy said it could be the steering dampener? IDK. I'm taking it back in now. Hopefully they can 'duplicate' the problem.

I've had my 14 SRW back 3 times in 3 weeks after the track bar recall. When I first picked it up, the steering wheel was off 20 degrees to the left. 2nd time the steering felt loose, wobbly, felt unsafe. After a week looked under and found tie rod adjusting sleeve jam nuts were not tightened. 3rd time- its there now- the wheel went off 5 degrees to the left again. Nuts were tight as the tech and manager marked them. Also having the rear main seal replaced, though I really really don't like the idea of them doing this extensive amount of work; it started seeping at 5k, now at 36 K there are clear trail lines with oil running down.

I had the R46 track bar recall done recently. I was putting it off until I also needed an oil change, but picking a dealer is always a problem because we travel a lot. Turns out only one of three local dealerships had a lift big enough for a cc lb drw truck, so they won. Took them 5 days, so I'm guessing they don't do many of these. Now the truck occasionally has a clunk when turning. Maybe worse when slowing down for the turn, but I'm having trouble duplicating the problem. I can't see any missing paint or evidence of metal to metal contact yet, but I'm thinking if it keeps doing it, something will start to show. We're in Iowa now and I have a dealer here that I trust, so if I can figure out how to make it happen, I can take it in. - John D

YES, Austin! The steering wheel has a few inches of play, and hitting a bump on the highway makes it bounce like a lowrider LOL
I'm not COMPLETELY clueless because I'm a girl, and my husband owns a machine shop. but since he works all day, he can't make it into the dealer to get my point across. Should I mention the tie rods? I guess I'll wait and see if it's 'fixed' enough....
Curious if anyone knows if the lemon law can come into effect with this mess? I really hate lawyers, but this damn truck cost a pretty penny, and If it's not going to get fixed the way it should've been to begin with......well, either give a new truck or my money back....yeah right, like THAT'S going to happen

Just K, you might post the truck you have and the state where you live. There is information re: the Lemon Law in your manual and it varies by state. Some are 24 months and Ca. is 18 months. The truck must have been out of service for X amount of days and/or have a problem that is not solved. There is also a mileage requirement. Because I live so far from a competent dealer I waited too long to address all my problems with the truck and have gone beyond the limits. Plus, I bought the truck because I needed it. Not because it could sit for long periods of time in a dealer while I drive a rental car. I would have traded up to a '16 if possible but that seems to be out of the picture. Probably will need to spend even more money on an extended warranty now.

What is the critria for rivnut or welding. It just says submit to TECH for final out come of repair. And then on top of that they get the wrong punch's in the kit to tap the drill hole.

MJ, I'll check out my manual as well as google it. I just registered for this site and hadn't added my info yet. Let's see if it turns up on this post. But, I'm in SOTX. The truck has been in for almost a complete 7 weeks. It has 35,800 miles (WOOO!!! Close! )
We also bought my truck because we need it, but it doesn't 'work' but a couple times a month, and it was kind of fun hauling Concrete in a dodge dart, and hardibacker in a jeep compass..... NOT!
I have a Chrysler 200 now. Not a bad little car. The dealer either provided or paid for all my loaners.
But, I want my freaking truck back already.
Also, has anyone even HEARD of lemon law being used for this recall mess? Thanks y'all

OK, my info wasnt added. Ugh

Let's start by saying the recall does not touch any parts that would require an alignment.Nor does it change any spring or shock mounting. The alignment issues or rough or soft riding can not be CAUSED by performing the recall. Now a clunk could happen if the track bar was not properly torqued.

If the brackets have started to separate or crack a weld team will be dispatched to make the repair. If no cracks are present the reinforcement bracket will be added.

So, dropping the entire front axle, and lowering the suspension bar to take some force off of the 'perfect welds' has nothing to do with the way my truck rides?
Seriously, not being rude here. Please explain. I'm honestly curious as to how my truck is fine before they remove parts, and super ****ty after.

did they have to weld or just add the brackets?with the last 8 of your vin I can check

They welded a new bracket. I had a crack. If the dealership ever sent me the pictures that I've been asking for all week, I'd show you.

Well that does change things. When they get welded the front end is removed so they may have left something loose or screwed up the alignment

So, the recall DOES mess with parts that can screw up the alignment..... I'm a girl, but I'm not stupid. It's only common sense. You pull the front of the truck off, yeah, the steering might be compromised.... And in my case it was. So you can't really say that the recall does not touch any parts that would require an alignment.
I'm not getting angry here with any of y'all, I'm just so freaking frustrated that I ordered this truck 2 years ago, and now, it sucks!
