Truck in sig has a "tweaked" R/side sway-bar end (not the end link/rod the actual end of the bar) due to an accident incurred prior to my ownership. I converted to MAXX end links both front and rear at least 15 years ago. Since converting I've gone thru at least 4 sets of R/side bushings (at the sway-bar to link/rod), turns out the end of the sway-bar loop/mounting for the link/rod is slightly bent = reason the bushings continue to fail.

So, to the question: is the front sway-bar on a 1500 4WD the same (diameter)? I could measure mine and take the tools I need to the salvage yard and then find out the 1500 diameter is smaller, figured I'd save some time and see if anyone on this great site might know before wasting time. BTW: theres a really good 1500 QC, SLT Laramie in the local yard just calling my name for this sway-bar... LOL

Thanks,

Joe Mc

The best advice is look up part numbers....if the same for the same model year, yes, if not no.

Cheers, Ron

According to moparpartscorp.com PN 52038925 = stabilizer bar-front sway, Dodge Ram 4x4, is same for 94 thru 99, 1500, 2500 & 3500. Ron, thanks for suggesting.

From what I see, it MAY be the same. Mopar lists the same frame bushings for both trucks, 52037916. However, everyone else lists two sizes, 30mm and 32mm diameter for both the 1500 and 2500 4x4 front Stabilizer Bar.

I’ll just bring my micrometer along with the tools I’ll need when I go to salvage yard. Will report back, probably next week-ish,

Joe, after you measure sway bar, recommend upgrading bushings to polyurethane. Makes a world of improvement over mushy rubber ones. Google will help again.

I went with Energy Suspension brackets and pro-thane bushings on front and rear bars, Maxx end links front and rear.

For clarification, the HD's are 34mm, come with factory sway bars, and are also called camper-specials. Non-HD's, have 32mm front sway bars, no factory rear sway bar, or helper springs.

Joe, do you happen to have the part numbers for the Energy Suspension brackets and Pro-thane bushings?

Mike, I've had them on mine for over 10 years. Best bet for you is to go right to energysuspensions.com and enter info for your truck. They're like $30 each = front/ rear
