I was wondering if the 3rd gens still use the front bearings that are part of the hub or did they go back to the old style. If so will the 3rd gen interchange with the 2nd gen, as far as replacing the front hub to get back to the old style. When are the aftermarket vendors going to come out with a hub we can use to get away from this stlye and back to the old? Am I dreaming here?

I'm not quite sure what you are asking. What is the "old style"? My front hubs have replaceable bearings and races that are easy to find, as are the hubs themselves. Are you looking for hubs with removable brake rotors perhaps? I don't think you'll find them for a 3500.

It's my understanding that on my year model it's not as easy as just replacing the bearing or repacking it. It is part of the hub assembly. Takes about $200 or more to do the job apiece.

Does that mean you have not actually pulled a front tire off, removed the dust cap and checked out what you have?

Games,

I have no dust cap, there is a big nylon nut. I was told that the bearing is pressed in and is part of the hub. I have seen post where members have had to find a shop that turn the rotors on the truck.
