Good day all... Since this is my first thread, I would like to start off by thanking everyone here for making this a fun and very informative site...

I have been lurking in the shadows quietly BOMBing away, but now I find I must divert some of the "fun" money to the maint. dept.

Was rotating my tires and found I had "in and out" play on one of the front tires. Thinking it was a "normal" wheel bearing setup I was prepared to get out my spindle nut socket and torque wrench and fix the problem. NOT!

While ordering parts (figured I would pull and repack the bearings, install new seals) I was told that the bearings are in a sealed, dealer only, one piece unit for the bargain basement price of $280. 00

Anybody have a better idea or source for this assembly?

Thanks in advance, Greg

Try NAPA

The bearing cartraige assembly has been out for more than 7 years now, it should be available from another source.

Also, try one from a 2001 truck. I recall (although maybe not accurately) that the early trucks came with other parts and on the newer ones the bearing is available seperately.

BTW, that IS a bargain! When these came out they were closer to $500!!!

Thanks for the links and the help guy's

The first counterguy I dealt with in the little parts store in the town I work in was a total dip-sh**t

He needed the make and model to order me a new Pine Tree air freshener!!

Called NAPA got the new bearing assembly for $166. 00... much better.
